Who we are
The People's Credit Union is a credit union in the process of formation in Birmingham. For this website, the person responsible for your information (the data controller) is Leon Lowe, founder, acting on behalf of The People's Credit Union. You can contact us at info@thepeoplescreditunion.co.uk, or about job applications at jobs@thepeoplescreditunion.co.uk.
What we collect
- Your name and email address
- Your postcode, if you give it
- How you'd like to help, and anything you write in the notes box
- The date and time you registered
How we use it
- To email you updates about setting up The People's Credit Union
- To contact you about volunteering, becoming a director or partnering with us, if you asked
- To show regulators, in total, how many people want to join (for example, how many people by area). We won't share your name or contact details with them without asking you first.
Job and volunteer applications
If you apply for a role, we collect the details on the application form: your name, contact details, postcode, current job, experience, availability, whether you have the right to work in the UK, any link you give us, and what you tell us about yourself. We use them only to consider your application and contact you about it. We keep applications for 12 months after the role is filled, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. If we offer you a paid role, we'll check your right to work in the UK as the law requires.
Live chat
If you use live chat, we keep your first name, the topic you choose and the messages in the conversation so our team can help you. We delete chats after six months. Please don't share passwords, PINs or full card numbers in chat.
Our lawful basis
We use your information because you've given us your consent by ticking the box on our forms. For job applications, we also rely on taking steps at your request before a possible contract or volunteer agreement. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, and we'll stop contacting you.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. It's stored with our website and email provider, Hostinger, who hosts it for us. We'll only share it with anyone else if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We'll keep your details until you ask us to delete them, or for two years after our last contact with you, whichever is sooner.
Your rights
You have the right to see the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. Email us to ask.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
